In Yosemite, one of America's favorite national parks, El Capitan towers vertically above Yosemite Valley. On the north side of the park near the western end of Yosemite Valley and standing about 3,000 feet from top to bottom, it gleamed against clear blue in the early morning sun, contrasted against the huge evergreens at its base.
We got up at 4:00 to be in the park before 5 a.m. (when required reservations start) and watched the sun crawl down the sides of the granite formations in Yosemite Valley. We were on our way out of the park when I took this shot; there was no traffic on our side of the road. Everyone was headed in.
